What Do We Support Locally

Jarrettsville Lions Charitable Foundation in conjunction with their parent Jarrettsville Lions Club sponsors or contributes to the following:

  • Leader Dogs
  • Eyeglasses – refurbished and new for those needing assistance to afford them
  • Eye exams and eyeglasses for those who can’t afford them
  • Pre-school Vision checks for children
  • Maryland School for the Blind
  • Wilmer Eye Clinic
  • The Lions Association for Sight & Hearing of Maryland, Inc. (LASH) was created and funded by the Lions Clubs of District 22A to provide the administrative body to conduct, foster and/or support projects and programs associated with the preservation and restoration of sight and hearing.
    These programs are made available at no cost primarily to those individuals who do not have insurance that covers vision and hearing and whose income falls at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level Guidelines.
    In the areas within 22A that have no active Lions club, LASH may be the provider of hearing and sight services. Contact any Lions Club member for assistance.
  • The Lions Vision Research Foundation (LVRF) is a joint effort by The Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, Lions Clubs International and District 22 Lions to provide research and treatment of Low Vision disorders.  The efforts predominately address conditions which cannot be corrected by eye glasses, surgery or medication. Those conditions include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and similar types of vision disorders.
  • Hearing aids-refurbished and new for those needing assistance to afford them
  • Individuals with an emergency – ex: car broke down on way to visit daughter-we fixed it.
  • Helping the elderly –replaced roofs, supplied firewood, built fences, built access ramps, etc.
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Diabetes fund raisers and diabetes summer camps for educating the young in how to manage their diabetes
  • Food Banks- Jarrettsville LIONs have supplied over a thousand pounds of food yearly
  • Assist needy families at Christmas with food and gifts for children
